Infiltrants
Our Infiltrant Powders are available in 2 basic types, namely, Residue and Non-Residue. They are manufactured on site here in Rochdale and may be tailored to suit individual customer requirements. They are technologically sophisticated and have been developed over a number of years using our expertise and experience, and today they are used in typical “PM” applications around the world.
Technical Description
Infiltrants are used to enhance the physico-mechanical properties of sintered iron components.
Non-Residue types (XF-3M) are employed where general, non-specific enhancement is required; it has high efficiency and leaves a clean surface with very little discoloration and run-off when correctly processed.
Residue types (XF-6M) are chosen where specific areas of the component are to be targeted or where parts are stacked during sintering, in which case, the residue aids control and minimises sticking.
Both types are formulated and blended in our modern, purpose-built facilities and can be engineered to suit customer requirements. Our Infiltrants are characterised by low lead (Pb) content, good reproducibility batch after batch, and are available in a variety of UN-approved packaging options including 25kg sacks, steel drums (50-100kg) and Big Bags (250, 500, 1000kg).
Usage & Application
Infiltrants are typically used on pressed and sintered iron components where improved hardness, density, strength, wear resistance, etc. are needed for demanding service conditions.
